Hafnium is an active element that reacts with oxygen and carbon in niobium to form HfO₂ and HfC compounds, resulting in dispersion strengthening. At the same time, it reduces the harmful effects of interstitial elements and improves the weldability and coating performance of the niobium alloy. Niobium hafnium alloy is the most widely used niobium alloy in aerospace engineering and technology. It exhibits good weldability.
Manufactured via alloying melting and casting under vacuum conditions using Vacuum Induction Melting (VIM).
